Our corporate office is located in the Pearl District of Portland. This position requires that you work on-site a majority of the time with some work-from-home flexibility. We offer better than average compensation, benefits and equity.
What You’ll Do
- Design and implement HTTP-based APIs supporting our frontend application
- Design and implement database schema updates & migrations to support new functionality and extend existing features
- Collaborate with Engineers, Product Managers, and additional stakeholders to frame problems within the business and product context
Team player, active participant collaborating with others to solve problems
Tech-savvy with a passion to learn new technologies and embrace technological challenges
Self-motivated and committed to delivering sprint tasks on time
Available to provide occasional weekend & evening support to the team (not clients)
Self-motivated, able to work both independently and as part of a team, learn quickly, meet deadlines, and demonstrate creative problem-solving skills
Ability to convey complex concepts to technical and non-technical team members
5+ years of professional experience as an engineer in the industry
2+ years professional (or demonstrable) Scala experience
2+ years' experience writing and using SQL in context of application development (Postgres preferred)
Significant experience specifying and implementing REST-style APIs
Familiarity with Unix/Linux operating systems and commands
Experience with designing and implementing system tests, integration tests, and unit tests
Experience working in an Agile (Scrum) environment
Experience with AWS
Experience with Kubernetes and Docker
Familiarity with functional programming techniques & concepts such as effects systems, purity, side-effects, and monadic combinators
Experience developing systems using concurrency and asynchronous programming frameworks
Familiarity with message queuing systems & patterns
Familiarity with multiple programming languages and patterns
